At Maple Carbon, sustainability isn’t just part of what we do; it defines who we are. Our focus is on creating sustainable solutions that transform agricultural and industrial waste into valuable carbon-based materials through both traditional and novel methods.

We combine science, technology, and environmental responsibility to address global challenges in waste management, water purification, and carbon reduction. Every process we develop is designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing resource efficiency and long-term value.

Our mission is clear: to drive the transition toward a circular, carbon-neutral future where industries and nature thrive together.

Sustainable innovation today for a cleaner tomorrow.

Activated Biochar for Water, Carbon & Soil

Maple Carbon Technologies transforms Brewer’s Spent Grain using Microwave-Assisted Pyrolysis (MAP) to produce high-performance activated biochar for wastewater treatment, durable CO₂ sequestration, and soil nutrient benefits.

Applications

Wastewater Treatment

Adsorption-grade biochar targeting dyes (Crystal Violet, Orange II), nutrients, and select metals. Tuned mesoporosity (~2–3 nm) and ~500 m²/g BET support high removal in batch and column systems.

CO₂ Sequestration

Stable aromatic carbon locks away CO₂ for centuries. We’re building MRV and buyer relationships for biochar-based carbon removal credits (indicative ≈2.5 t CO₂e per t biochar).

Soil Health & Nutrients

Improves CEC, moisture retention, and microbial habitat; supports nutrient efficiency when blended with compost or fertilizer programs.

Microwave-Assisted Pyrolysis (MAP)

  • Rapid, volumetric heating with lower losses than conventional kilns
  • Consistent carbonization; better time–temperature control
  • Designed for modular, on-site deployment

Traditional Pyrolysis

  • Proven, reliable technology with decades of industrial use
  • Capable of processing large biomass volumes efficiently
  • Simple design and operation; compatible with various feedstocks
  • Produces stable biochar with well-established quality characteristics

Activated Biochar for Water & Soil

  • ~500 m²/g BET surface area (lab benchmark)
  • Mesopores ≈ 2–3 nm via H₃PO₄ activation
  • ≥90% dye removal in lab trials (real effluent varies)
